3rd June 2024 – Shangri-La The Shard, London celebrates its tenth birthday with a collection of unique experiences - including becoming the first hotel in London to offer personalised luxury yacht journeys on the River Thames. An exclusive ‘Behind the Scenes’ programme will allow guests to discover the local neighbourhood, while celebrations will be elevated with new decade-themed cocktail, dining and afternoon tea experiences.
Commemorating ten years of creating memories, Western Europe’s highest hotel has welcomed more than half a million guests since 2014. With over 5,000 rooms decorated for special occasions, 3,000 proposals and 200 weddings organised by the hotel’s dedicated team, it continues to be a landmark in London for guests choosing to spend life’s momentous occasions in the clouds.
THE STAY OF THE DECADE
Marking this milestone, Shangri-La The Shard, London presents ‘The Stay of the Decade’ this summer, offering guests once-in-a-lifetime local destination experiences. In partnership with Illuminate, a luxurious Italian-designed Azimut yacht, guests will enjoy an overnight stay in the opulent Shangri-La Suite, a two-hour Champagne cruise on the Thames,
and a choice of an exclusive ‘Behind the Scenes’ local destination experience.

EXPLORE THE THAMES ON BOARD THE LUXURY ILLUMINATE YACHT
Available separately as an add-on to stays for up to ten guests, Illuminate offers exclusive Shangri-La River Thames journeys with bespoke dining experiences. These include a delicious afternoon tea on its open-air deck and fine dining for up to nine people with a private chef and skipper, accompanied by an up-close view of sights like the London Eye, Tower Bridge and Big Ben.

‘BEHIND THE SCENES’ LOCAL DESTINATION EXPERIENCES
Guests can elevate their stay further with new luxury learning experiences at the hotel and in its vibrant Bermondsey neighbourhood. A private jewellery-making workshop at Alex Monroe will follow an expert in melting down precious metals, crafting a Stirling silver necklace as a lasting memento of a special stay.
A private Chef’s Tour of Bermondsey includes visits to local suppliers in Borough Market and Bermondsey and a two-course lunch at TĪNG Restaurant cooked by their personal chef using ingredients they handpicked together during the tour.
At GŎNG Bar, a resident mixologist and the hotel’s Japanese master sushi chef will guide guests through both a cocktail and sushi-making masterclass, learning techniques to prepare Asian delights such as maki rolls and nigiri to enjoy alongside chic cocktails with a view.

TEN YEARS OF TEA AT TĪNG LOUNGE
TĪNG Lounge will serve an Instagrammable ‘A Decade in the Clouds’ Afternoon Tea featuring London-inspired pastries such as the Lady in Pearls, Big Ben at Ten and London Calling. British-inspired savoury sandwiches and freshly-baked scones with blueberry jam and clotted cream are accompanied by a signature Chocolate Shard filled with whipped brie and tangy berry compote served over clouds of dry ice.

A DECADE OF MOMENTS AT GŎNG BAR
