The Shard Craft Week Brings Occupiers Together Through Creativity and Community

Office occupiers at The Shard came together last week to celebrate creativity, craftsmanship and connection during a vibrant new Craft Week.
Building on The Shard’s ongoing commitment to fostering a strong sense of community within its vertical city, the week-long programme invited occupiers to step away from their desks and engage in a series of thoughtfully curated workshops led by independent makers and artisans.
Throughout the week, occupiers had the opportunity to explore a diverse range of crafts, each designed to inspire creativity while encouraging interaction between colleagues from across the building.

Among the highlights were braiding workshops hosted by Braid Maidens, where participants learned braiding for beginners then moved on to French plaits and Dutch braids. The tactile nature of the sessions encouraged conversation and collaboration, bringing together individuals from different businesses and industries.

Creative expression continued with Something Good Workshops, who delivered both screen printing and bookbinding sessions. Occupiers experimented with bold designs and printing techniques, while the bookbinding workshops offered a slower, more mindful experience—guiding participants through the process of crafting their own bespoke notebooks by hand.

Wellbeing remained a key theme throughout Craft Week, with 20A Aromatherapy leading calming sessions focused on aromatherapy mist creation and herbal tea blending. These workshops invited occupiers to explore scent, botanicals and the benefits of natural ingredients, offering a moment of pause in the working day.

Rounding off the programme, Rukai Botanicals hosted a body butter making workshop, where participants blended nourishing ingredients to create their own skincare products. The sessions provided both a creative outlet and a deeper understanding of natural self-care.

Craft Week reflects The Shard’s wider programme of occupier events, which are designed to strengthen connections and create shared experiences across the building’s diverse business community. From wellness initiatives to seasonal celebrations, these moments play an important role in enhancing workplace culture and encouraging collaboration.
