In a vibrant celebration of art, community and tradition, The Shard recently hosted a three-day artist in residence event, in partnership with the London School of Mosaic.

Over the three days, The Shard occupiers were invited to come along to watch and help build the mosaic panel.

Now complete, this awe-inspiring artwork will join a wider mosaic installation as a permanent fixture in London Bridge, a testament to the power of art in creating a sense of place and community.

The event is just one facet of The Shard’s broader collaboration with the London School of Mosaic, which also includes the design of the Shard Lights display this Christmas.

The event also showcased the remarkable mural artwork titled “A Thousand Streams” which will become part of the cultural pull to Shard Quarter.

The mosaic mural, stretching an impressive 57 metres along Station Approach, is a result of a collaborative effort between British artist Adam Nathaniel Furman and London School of Mosaic. The monumental artwork is not only a visual spectacle but also a testament to the dedication of a team of volunteers.

"We are excited for the opportunity that a contemporary mosaic, the largest our school has produced to date, will be decorating one of London’s busiest stations for many years to come. We are thrilled to be able to work with Adam whose designs fit beautifully with our ethos and practice, as well as bringing a team of 40 artisans and volunteers together to make the piece happen."
