19th February 2026

The Lion Dance is one of the most recognisable and celebrated traditions of Lunar New Year. Symbolising fortune, prosperity and new beginnings, the performance is believed to bring good luck and positive energy for the year ahead.

Accompanied by the rhythmic beat of drums and cymbals, the Lion travelled through the building, creating moments of surprise and celebration for those working within The Shard.

The activation formed part of The Shard’s ongoing programme of cultural moments and occupier engagement, designed to bring the vertical city together through shared experiences. Events such as this not only mark important dates in the global calendar, but also celebrate the diversity of the building’s business community.

The celebration was delivered in partnership with Hutong, The Shard’s award winning Northern Chinese restaurant located on Level 33. Known for its bold, fiery cuisine inspired by the culinary traditions of Northern China, Hutong also offers sweeping skyline views across London, making it one of the capital’s most distinctive dining destinations.

Kraft Heinz also joined the celebrations, giving away 200 bottles of Amoy Premium Soy Sauce to mark the Year of the Horse.

As the Lion made its way through the building, the atmosphere reflected the spirit of renewal that defines Lunar New Year, a moment to look ahead with optimism and ambition.

A fitting way to welcome the year ahead at The Shard.
