The top 20 storeys of the UK’s tallest building were transformed into a glowing digital countdown, marking the final moments of 2025, erupting into a spectacular sequence of colour in sync with Big Ben’s famous bongs, before the firework light display began shortly afterwards.
The Shard’s light displays have become a defining feature of London’s seasonal celebrations and this first of its kind firework display was watched by revellers all across the capital and at home enjoying London’s celebrations on TV
This year, the Shard Lights will illuminate the skyline through to 5 January following widespread feedback from the public. This extended run marks the building’s longest-ever continuous Christmas light display and aims to brighten the long, dark mornings and evenings for Londoners as they navigate the start of the New Year.
