This festive season, Shangri-La The Shard, London invites guests to step into the whimsical world of Disney Mary Poppins with A Holly Jolly Afternoon Tea, a new festive experience created in collaboration with Disney.
Launching on 12 November 2026 and running through January 2027, the afternoon tea brings the magic of the much-loved classic film to TĪNG Restaurant and Lounge, 35 floors above London.
Guests can enjoy an imaginative selection of pâtisserie, playful flavours and creative beverages inspired by the world of Mary Poppins, accompanied by spectacular views across the capital. The experience culminates in a theatrical chocolate creation inspired by The Shard, adding a memorable finale to the festive celebration.

The experience will also support Make-A-Wish UK, with guests given the opportunity to make a donation to help the charity grant life-changing wishes for children living with critical illnesses.
From Mary Poppins’ iconic carpet bag and floral hat to London’s famous rooftops and chimneys, each creation draws inspiration from the film’s most memorable moments. The experience culminates in a spectacular tableside finale, with a chocolate recreation of The Shard emerging through swirling clouds of dry ice, set against panoramic views of the London skyline.

Curated by Executive Pastry Chef Piero Sottile and his talented team, the afternoon tea features four handcrafted desserts inspired by the characters, imagery and memorable moments of Disney Mary Poppins.
The Carpet Bag
Inspired by Mary Poppins’ iconic carpet bag, this intricately crafted pastry combines apple, pecan and cinnamon, bringing together the warm, comforting flavours of Christmas.

Inspired by the film’s iconic chimney sweep scenes, this miniature chimney is crowned with a delicate silhouette of Mary Poppins and her umbrella, combining the rich, seasonal flavours of chestnut and blackcurrant.

Inspired by Mary Poppins’ unmistakable floral hat, this elegant charcoal-coloured creation is adorned with intricate flowers and pairs the delicate flavours of Earl Grey and bergamot.

The showstopping finale is a chocolate recreation of London’s iconic skyscraper, crafted with Valrhona dark chocolate and cherries in a playful nod to Cherry Tree Lane, the beloved London street where the Banks family lives and Mary Poppins’ adventures begin. Presented tableside amid swirling clouds of dry ice, the creation brings a spectacular theatrical finish to the afternoon tea experience.

Continuing the magic, the hotel’s mixologists have created two imaginative beverages inspired by the whimsical world of Disney Mary Poppins.

With sweeping views of the River Thames, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral and London’s historic rooftops, TĪNG provides a fitting setting for this Disney Mary Poppins-inspired celebration.
Whether gathering with friends, celebrating with family or introducing a new generation to the beloved Disney classic, ‘A Holly Jolly Afternoon Tea’ brings together the nostalgia and magic of Mary Poppins with Shangri-La’s signature hospitality.
Through its support of Make-A-Wish UK, the experience also brings added meaning to the festive season, helping to create moments of joy and make wishes come true for children living with critical illnesses.
