Maltby Street over the recent years has quickly been established as one of London’s favourite foodie destinations.
A short walk from London Bridge station and set beneath the rustic arches in Bermondsey, Maltby Street is a space in a place less ordinary, filled with gastronomic delights and an intimate collection of unusual food stalls and outlets each with its own identity and charm. The bustling market offers street food from around the world, all with original concepts to showcase their versatility. The market, though smaller than Borough sells fresh produce including breads, cakes, meats and cheeses and is a favourite weekend spot for locals, tourists and innovative traders. Popular sellers include Gergovie Wines at 40 Maltby Street selling artisan vino, and St John Bakery's sourdough and fresh filled doughnuts. The Kernel Brewery is also open during market time. The market is open Saturdays between 10am-5pm and Sundays between 11am-4pm.
The latest development to this vibrant destination is LASSCO Ropewalk – a sparkling, unadvertised street market filled with stalls selling food from around the world, pop-up bars and a collection of independent shops sitting in a picturesque fashion under the arches. Still plenty to see and explore after the market closes, why not take stroll along the Bermondsey beer mile, or have a taster at Jensen’s Gin distillery, enjoy a touch of art at the White Cube gallery, or take a trip to London's iconic building The Shard only moments away.
