THINK YOU KNOW OUR NEIGHBOURS AT SHAD THAMES? THINK AGAIN!
The lovely people at STAMP have created a hidden trail tour that uncovers the secrets of the SE1 pocket of Shad Thames.
Yes, it has some of the best Victorian warehouses in London and a plethora of places to eat and drink along the Thames. But for a compact area, it also has a surprising number of secrets. Like a pyramid in a cobbled courtyard; a bronze brewery dray horse flown by helicopter over London; and a pumping station that links the Thames Super Sewer to a Tudor drainage system.
If you’re keen to do some exploring of your own, why not download the local insider’s tour here for free. The tour is a wonderful insight and full of historical nuggets that most of us visitors would never know.
You can find out more at www.loveshadthames.org, the website for community collaboration STAMP (Shad Thames Area Management Partnership), which actively celebrates the area. To hear about events, sign up to their Newsletter and follow them on Twitter @loveshadthames.
