THE SHARD CONFIRMS SECOND LETTING IN 2016 TO DIGITAL MARKETING AGENCY
The Shard confirms second letting in 2016 to global digital marketing agency Jellyfish.
- As an essential part of its business development plan, global digital marketing agency Jellyfish will move its UK HQ to The Shard
- The 2nd occupier to sign in 2016 - taking 9,017 sq ft on level 22
- The Vertical City now has 27 companies across 15 business sectors in its office space
REM, on behalf of the owners of The Shard, today confirms a further 9,017 sq ft of office space has been let after Jellyfish, the digital marketing agency, selected the Vertical City for its new UK headquarters. It is the second letting to be confirmed this year, following a successful 2015, which saw 12 new occupiers take space at one of London’s most iconic buildings.
Jellyfish will expand from its current base in Reigate, Surrey to The Shard at London Bridge after it signed a new 10-year lease for part of level 22, sharing the floor with Khazanah Europe Investments Ltd, which will move into The Shard later this year.
This takes the total number of office occupiers in the building to 27 across 15 business sectors.
Founded in 1999, Jellyfish is a digital marketing agency which brings together multiple channels and services. Soon to be based at The Shard it also has offices in the US, South Africa, and Japan with more than 300 employees globally.
London Bridge is a growing hub for some of the world’s most influential media brands. Over the last 15 years, it has seen an influx of technology, media and telecoms companies, which now make up 20% of the occupier base in London Bridge. Among these is The News UK group, which moved into The News Building, managed by REM, in 2014, bringing with it both prestigious and popular titles, including The Wall Street Journal, The Times, The Sun and HarperCollins. The area is also home to the Financial Times’ London headquarters, and houses communications agencies, Focus PR and Blue Rubicon.
The appeal of the area lies in the wealth of social and cultural amenities it offers, attracting a range of progressive businesses looking to attract and retain the best talent.
Irvine Sellar, The Shard’s developer, co-owner, and vice-chairman of REM and James Goldsmith, Leasing Director of REM, said: “We had a very successful year in 2015, which saw our vision for creating a vertical city really come to life. The latest signing of Jellyfish further demonstrates the building and wider area’s appeal to the media sector. With only 10% of the office space at London Bridge Quarter still remaining available, we will be working hard to attract further diversity in our occupier base over the coming few months.”
“WE’RE EXCITED TO BE MOVING INTO SUCH AN ICONIC BUILDING, AMONGST SOME OF THE MOST POWERFUL MEDIA BRANDS IN THE WORLD. ”
