PROTIVITI'S PETER RICHARDSON ON THE IMPORTANCE OF 'PLACE'

Companies at The Shard

Richardson highlights key points on why Protiviti felt that The Shard was the building for them, and why the local area - the London Bridge Neighbourhood, played a vital role in their decision making to relocate from central London.

Global business consultancy firm Protiviti and sister company Robert Half opened their flagship office in The Shard in October. The new location brought the partner companies together in one space and provided an opportunity to further enhance the companies' unique ability to offer clients combined staffing and consulting services.

Protiviti’s MD Peter Richardson spoke about the importance of place at our recent thought-leadership event ShardTalks Place, alongside panellists Deputy Editor of The Times, Emma Tucker; Bindi Karia, one of the UK's top tech entrepreneurs; Iqbal Wahhab OBE, businessman, entrepreneur and founder of Roast and Cinnamon Club, and Simon Williams, Chief Growth Officer of world-leading brand consultancy FutureBrand.

In an interview after the event, Richardson told us why The Shard was the best choice for their business, and how the local London Bridge neighbourhood played a vital role in their decision to relocate from the West End:

"In terms of reputation, location played a very significant role in our decision-making process. We moved from the very centre and heart of London - Number 1 The Strand, Trafalgar Square and it was a very difficult decision for us to make. To find a location that was as prestigious as that, that would mean as much to our staff and our clients, would be tricky. London Bridge and The Shard measured up in every sense."

On the rich social and cultural attractions in the local area, Richardson commented;

"The growth and vibrancy developing in the London Bridge area over the past few years has been very significant in making this a desirable location for businesses and talent. “

“When we look at why people join consultancy organisations, they join because they want change, they want variety, a new atmosphere and a way to experience that community excitement. We are a young organisation and as we continue to grow and develop, we feel this environment and dynamic location will provide a platform to ignite excitement in our people, appeal to our international clients and enable us to connect with the surrounding London Bridge community in a meaningful way."
