NEW LONDON BRIDGE CONCOURSE IMAGES REVEALED
New computer-generated images of the London Bridge concourse have been revealed by Thameslink. As part of the rejuvenation project, the space will match the size of Wembley Stadium and enable access to both Tooley Street and St Thomas Street, helping to link the intricate locale.
While the Victorian station transforms into a 21st century transport hub, London Bridge will see an increase of passenger usage by up to 66%. When the redevelopment is completed, London Bridge Station will become one of the capital’s truly major transport hubs with easy access to Heathrow airport – through interchange with Crossrail at Farringdon – as well as direct journeys to Luton and Gatwick airports and St Pancras International.
Up to 18 trains an hour will run through London Bridge when the redevelopment is complete, offering better connections than ever before. As co-owner of The Shard and London Bridge Quarter, Irvine Sellar, told Network Rail, “We are delighted with progress of the transformation of London Bridge station. On completion it will mean our investment in this part of London will total in excess of £2bn and help breathe new life into the area”. Inevitably, the London Bridge area will see an influx of business interest which can only mean progress.
