THE SHARD TO HOST PRESTIGIOUS 10X10 ART AUCTION
The Shard has been unveiled as host and partner for this year’s prestigious 10x10 charity art auction, at which leading artists and architects will sell work based on the district around the building.
At the auction, which in previous years has featured pieces by Lord Foster, Lord Rogers, Dame Zaha Hadid, Paul Smith and Jake & Dinos Chapman (pictured above), buyers will bid for work based on a grid of 100 squares, with The Shard at its centre.
Each participant is allocated a square and will produce art based on buildings and public space in that part of London. This year’s entrants will be announced in the coming weeks.
Funds from the auction, run by charity Article 25 and scheduled for November 27, will go to essential projects to improve health standards in the developing world.

Robin Cross, the Article 25 Managing Director, said: "Article 25 is preparing for its biggest event to date with this year’s 10x10, working with our partner The Shard and our sponsors to raise record funds and showcase the best of British artistic and architectural talent.

Last year the 10x10 Auction raised £90,000 which was used to design and build best practice Street Children’s Centres across Africa. All funds raised from this year’s auction will go towards Article 25’s essential healthcare projects to improve the standard of health in the developing world.
