The Shard

The Shard will be welcoming The Kraft Heinz Company to London Bridge in 2017.

  • The Kraft Heinz Company will relocate its European and UK headquarters to The Shard
  • Global food products supplier will take 38,000 sq ft on Levels 20 & 21
  • The first employees will arrive at The Shard by April 2017

REM, on behalf of the owners of The Shard, has confirmed a new letting to The Kraft Heinz Company (“Kraft Heinz”) that will see the global food products supplier relocate its European and UK headquarters from Hayes, Middlesex, to London Bridge.

Kraft Heinz has agreed a 12-year lease to take over 38,000 sq ft of space on Levels 20 and 21. The company’s new open plan workspace is being designed to increase efficiency by facilitating better communication and faster decision making, while promoting collaboration and focused working amongst employees. Fit-out is due to commence early in the New Year.

Kraft Heinz made the decision to relocate its European and UK headquarters to central London to strengthen the company’s dynamic culture, which is based on meritocracy, speed and efficiency. The Shard was selected for its strong transport links and the wealth of nearby amenities – both inside the building and in the surrounding neighbourhood – that will benefit the business and its employees. Kraft Heinz is the third Shard occupier to relocate to the building from outside London, following in the footsteps of Foresight and Sage.

Irvine Sellar, The Shard’s developer, co-owner and vice-chairman of REM, said: “Kraft Heinz is one of the world’s most loved brands and its products can be found in nearly every kitchen cupboard across the UK. The decision by Kraft Heinz to relocate the engine of its UK operations to central London shows real confidence in the Capital’s enduring position as a global business hub. Kraft Heinz joins a diverse community of companies within The Shard and will add to the vibrant London Bridge neighbourhood, which is now certainly one of the best areas in London to do business.”

Michael Mullen, Senior Vice President of Corporate & Government Affairs, Kraft Heinz, said: “The Shard will provide us with a dynamic open-office layout that will facilitate better communication, faster decision making, greater focus and collaboration. The Shard’s light-filled office space with its remarkable views will also provide a truly inspiring workplace for the Kraft Heinz employees based at our headquarters. However, we are also excited to be joining the lively business community within The Shard and will take advantage of the raft of amenities on our doorstep, from Borough Market to The View from The Shard. Our move to The Shard will be a step change for the business and we look forward to relocating next year.”

Kraft Heinz is the fifth-largest food and beverage company in the world, with eight $1 billion+ brands. A globally trusted producer of delicious foods, Kraft Heinz provides high quality, great taste and nutrition for all eating occasions whether at home, in restaurants or on the go. The company’s iconic brands in the UK include Heinz, HP, Planters, Weight Watchers from Heinz, and Lea & Perrins.

The addition of Kraft Heinz to The Shard’s occupier mix brings the total number of occupiers to 29 across a diverse range of businesses sectors including energy, technology, fashion, finance, education, and healthcare. Only 59,000 sq ft of office space remains in The Shard.

The Shard has played an instrumental role in the transformation of London Bridge, which has undergone a significant change over the last 15 years. London Bridge station has received significant investment including the remodelling of the concourse to accommodate increased footfall. These improvements have undoubtedly increased the attractiveness of the area for businesses.

In addition to its high-quality space and exceptional transport connectivity, The Shard’s outstanding broadband and telecoms infrastructure was awarded a platinum rating by WiredScore as an endorsement of the building’s resilience.

JLL and Knight Frank are the leasing agents for The Shard; Kraft Heinz was advised by CBRE.
