SOCIAL ENTERPRISE CELEBRATES FIRST BIRTHDAY AT THE SHARD

Companies at The Shard

GoodPeople Connect, the body that helps unemployed Southwark residents to find work, is celebrating its first birthday at The Shard.

In its first year, the social enterprise has placed many candidates into jobs at businesses in The Shard, including several at the Shangri-La restaurant, where it helped Nickeita Johnson find employment.

She said: "It's the perfect job. When I came to GoodPeople Connect they matched my skills and experience, and really improved my confidence with their training course and personal development coaches. I would definitely recommend them."

Richard Tyrie, the GoodPeople CEO, added: "Not only are we extremely pleased with our own achievements, we're especially proud of all the candidates we've supported into work. They are thriving and having very positive impacts in the businesses they work for.

"These people deserved to be given a chance, so it's really rewarding to see them feeling valued and making a difference.

"This celebration is our way of sharing their successes, reflecting on the last twelve months and thanking all the people who have been part of our journey."

The event, at which an award will be presented to a candidate who has shown high levels of commitment, passion and impact, took place on Tuesday, May 20, on Level 22 of The Shard before moving to The View from the Shard.
