From sunset on December 24th, The Shard will transform its glass walls into a striking red Christmas stocking for the first time ever. Forget the fireplace by the chimney - this Christmas Eve, Santa’s got an even grander landmark to visit as The Shard unveils the UK’s tallest hung Christmas stocking, turning its iconic Spire into a beacon of festive magic for children across the nation.
The top 20 storeys of the building will become a proverbial mantelpiece where the giant stocking will hang, shining brightly until midnight and delivering a truly memorable festive experience for Londoners and visitors alike
The illumination will be brought to life by 575 energy efficient LED lights, lighting up the London skyline and creating a moment of celebration this Christmas Eve from every corner of the city.
The new festive illumination is part of The Shard’s broader series of celebratory light sequences this year, which also includes for the first time a firework inspired display to bring in the New Year.
