The city's highest summer garden has now officially opened, with strictly come dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman cutting the ribbon in a grand opening ceremony in celebration of The Year of the English Garden.
The View from The Shard’s open-air Skydeck on Level 72, 800ft (244m) above the city has been transformed for our viewing pleasure this summer into an immersive garden featuring thousands of brilliant blooms. The garden took 800 man hours to complete, with nearly 1,900 litres of soil used and 80 snails rescued. In Western Europe’s tallest building, guests will be able to relax and enjoy the foliage as well as the panoramic 360-degree views for up to 40 miles whilst indulging in a green-fingered inspired cocktail from the drinks menu at the pop-up bar.
“Now this is a garden with a view. It just shows you can create a beautiful green space no matter where you are, even if it’s 72 floors up.”
Whilst celebrating the quintessentially British experience, the garden will also promote the immense importance of UK wild flowers in pollination and elevating bee populations.
The iconic landmark has teamed up with Grow Wild, the UK's biggest-ever wild flower campaign, who have taken over a corner of the attraction with native, pollinator-friendly wild flowers and plants. At the end of summer, these planters will be donated to local Grow Wild community projects across London.
Leave the city behind and ascend to the 72nd floor of The Shard, the only place to see all of London all at once, and experience a breath-taking homage to the quintessential English garden.
Guests can experience the summer garden installation with standard entry to The View from The Shard until September 18th 2016.
Tickets are priced from £25.95 per adult/£19.95 per child and are available to purchase by clicking here.
