Western Europe’s highest light show leads the countdown as the nation welcomes in the New Year.

The Shard took part in a unique televised event, alongside a host of other London landmarks, to ring in 2022. The dazzling light and firework show was broadcast live on BBC1, allowing millions of viewers from across the nation to celebrate the start of the New Year.

The Shard kicked off the start of the show with a unique, 60-second countdown light display, before the traditional bongs of Big Ben chimed out across the city. The show also featured light, drone and spoken word performances from various locations across the city, including The Globe Theatre, St Paul's Cathedral, and Maritime Greenwich.

The event follows The Shard’s annual Shard Lights display, which ran from 1st December. The theme of this year’s display was ‘togetherness; designed to celebrate families across the country once again being able to spend the festive season together.
